Panel 1: Economic impact of Climate Change on Agribusiness in Brazil and the new instruments used by the sector

Taking into consideration CEBDS member companies, we notice a strong focus on understanding and identifying the impacts of the companies on the environment and not the other way around – how much climate change can impact business, for instance. In other words, companies worry about estimating their GHG emissions and establishing emission reduction targets, but there is still little on potencial physical risks as well as opportunities related to climate change. In Brazil, this is particularly important for the agriculture sector, the activity that most emits GHG and is, at the same time, the most vulnerable to climate change.

3:15 pm – 3:45 pm
Panel 2: The role of TCFD’s recommendations to increase transperancy in the agro sector

CEBDS’ study on the TCDF – Task Force on Climated related Financial Disclosure launched on Bloomberg’s event main results indicate that the sector which needs most to evolve on its adherence to the TCFD is the one that contains agriculture, forest products and food and beverages. Aware of the country’s dependance on this sector, CEBDS envisages to replicate for the agriculture sector, a global work undergone by WBCSD for other setcors. This panel will present such work and the methodology and approach undertaken for other sectors, but that could be applied for agriculture.
